On Sunday, February 2024, 2, the National Park Research Institute of Edogawa University will hold a public symposium, ``Countermeasures against alien species near waterfronts toward 11.'' Co-sponsored by the certified NPO Ecokobo, the event has a capacity of 2030 people, no application is required, and there is no participation fee.

In fiscal 2023, the National Biodiversity Strategy 2023-2030 will start, and the Alien Species Act will be revised in June, making it the time to consider new goals and developments in countermeasures against invasive species. In addition, the Ministry of the Environment has begun reexamining the ``Action Plan for Preventing Damage to Invasive Species'' and the ``List of Invasive Species to Prevent Ecosystem Damage'' that were formulated in fiscal 6, and are implementing more practical methods of pest control with the aim of realizing a nature-positive society in 2014. Guidelines for countermeasures against invasive species are being developed.

To mark this milestone, a public symposium will bring together experts from a variety of positions and specialized fields who are involved with waterside invasive species, and will present the latest findings and case studies. In addition, we aim to deepen understanding of the invasive species problem by making recommendations for countermeasures against invasive species and damage prevention towards 2030.
